Join the Army Reserve
We are recruiting now for an Army Reserve intake in November 2012. We are particularly interested in skilled people to take on the current roles within the Army Reserve: Armourer, Carpenter, Driver, Electronics Technician, Information Systems Operator, Maintenance Fitter, Military Police, Movement Operator, Plant Operator, Plumber, Crewman, Field Engineer, Gunner, Intelligence Operator, Medic, Rifleman, Vehicle Mechanic.

Intake requirements
These are the current minimum intake requirements:
- To be a minimum age of 17
- Have completed at least three years secondary school
- Have a proven ability in English and Mathematics at NCEA Level 1 (8 credits per subject) or equivalent, as a minimum depending on trade preference.
- Be a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident and have lived in New Zealand for at least five years.
Initial Training
Your initial training to become an Army Reserve soldier is to be completed in three modules (mods) in Waiouru. We expect a seven week commitment to cover these mods. If you are selected, but cannot be available for the full seven weeks, please consult your Candidate Coordinator when you apply.

Territorial Force Commissioning Course (TFCC)
To become a TF officer, applicants must be a serving reserve or regular soldier. Current serving soldiers interested in becoming a TF Officer should apply using the form AFNZ413D through their Commanding Officer. You will be required to attend an Officer Selection Board (OSB) and if successful will be invited to attend the TFCC currently plotted for 7 Jan - 22 Feb 2013 (See Army Intake Schedule for OSB dates).
