Selection Process
The first step in the process to joining New Zealand's Army is to
fill out the application form on the website. Once you've done this you'll be contacted by your local Recruiting Officer who will arrange the remainder of the process with you.
The process is:
- Apply online.
- Attend an Officer Presentation and Aptitude Test session.
- Attend an interview with a Recruiting Officer.
- Attend an Officer Selection Board Presentation.
Pass the Officer Selection Board.
- Receive an Offer of Service for your chosen Officer Scheme.
- Pass Officer Cadet School Initial Officer Training
- Pass the Army Reserve Commissioning Course
- At the successful completion of the 7 week Commissioning Course you will graduate as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Army Reserve of New Zealand's Army.
Eligibility
You should be self-motivated and display leadership potential.
- You must be 17 years of age or over.
- You must meet the academic requirements for your chosen scheme.
- You should be medically and physically fit.
- You must have a clear police record.
- For Tertiary Schemes, you should preferably be aged 17 to 22.
- You must have New Zealand Citizenship (Permanent Residency may be sufficient in some cases).
