150th anniversary celebrations on track

Planning is well underway for the upcoming 150th (sesquicentennial) anniversary celebrations of the 4th Otago Southland Battalion Group, which will be held over the weekend of 26th to the 28th of February, 2010, in Dunedin.

The call has gone out for all past and present soldiers who were either posted to or have served in the region, be they Artillery, Armour, Engineers, Infantry, Signals, Logistics Operators (Drivers, Cooks etc) or Medics.

Highlights of the celebrations include Army Open Days on the Friday and Saturday, at the Kensington Army Hall in South Dunedin were a large number of displays covering the units proud history, military vehicles from WW2 and modern day NZ Army equipment, including a NZLAV, will be on show.

A full dress Battalion Charter Parade through the centre of Dunedin will be held at 12 noon on the Saturday accompanied by a large number of vintage and modern military vehicles and then later that evening a formal military ball will be conducted with the NZ Army band in attendance, at the Dunedin Town Hall.

On the Sunday morning there will be a hosted barbeque brunch for all attendees and soldiers.
